Collection Exhibition 'Let's Read the Novel "Maihime"!'

Taken in Berlin in 1888 (Meiji 21)

This exhibition showcases all 28 pages of the handwritten manuscript (replica) of Ogai Mori's representative work 'Maihime'. It also displays magazines and books where 'Maihime' was published, as well as museum-owned materials related to Ogai's study in Germany and the reactions at the time that were the backdrop to the creation. Let's read while paying attention to the handwritten characters and traces of revision, and savor the words that Ogai carefully selected.
