Moon Viewing Festival

Moon Viewing and Donation Ceremony
Originally enshrined in the imperial palace of Heijō-kyū (the residence of Emperor Kōnin, the father of Emperor Kanmu), it is a historic shrine, Hirano Shrine, that was moved to this location in the year 794 with the transfer of the capital to Heian. Enjoy the donation ceremony under the beautiful full moon of mid-autumn.
