The Shimodate Gion Festival, one of the top summer festivals in the prefecture, is held over four days centered around the Haguro Shrine in Omachi. The men's mikoshi (portable shrine) is bursting with sweat like pearls. The women's mikoshi sways on the shoulders of young women. Experience the largest summer festival in Chikusei, full of power and energy! When the festival begins, two large mikoshi, the 'Oomikoshi' and 'Himemikoshi', along with over 30 children's mikoshi, march through the streets all at once, filling the main street with so many spectators that movement becomes impossible.
