Kurayami Festival

The biggest festival of Okunitama Shrine
This festival of 'Musashi Province' has been passed down since the time when the provincial capital was located in Fuchu City, where Okunitama Shrine is located, and has a history of over a thousand years. During the grand festival, various ceremonies such as the Shinagawa Sea Purification Ceremony, the Prayer for Clear Weather Ceremony, the Horse Racing Ceremony, and the Sacred Sitting Ceremony are held, making it the largest festival of Okunitama Shrine. During the main procession of the portable shrine, six large drums are struck in response to a firework signal, leading to the most spectacular moment, the procession of the portable shrine called 'Oide'. Eight portable shrines are carried to the temporary shrine by spirited bearers dressed in white and guided by the large drum.
