The poet of the late Edo period and a loyalist known as "the Mother of the Restoration," Nobuto Ni. Amid the intensifying pro-Imperial and anti-foreigner movement, she was accused of harboring loyalists such as Takasugi Shinsaku at her secluded residence, Hiraoyamansō (now located in Chūō-ku, Fukuoka City), and was exiled to Himejima in 1865 (Keio 1). However, it is said that during her days on Himejima, she had peaceful interactions with the island's residents. This exhibition touches upon Nobuto Ni's life and her days spent on Himejima. ■ Notes Trace the life of Nobuto Ni, known as "the Mother of the Restoration," and the four seasons she experienced on Himejima (Itoshima).
