Curie Festival

Thanking the blessings of the hot springs at the Misasa Onsen Curie Festival
Misasa Town has greatly benefited from the world's leading radium hot springs. The Curie Festival was started to honor the achievements of Madame Marie Curie, the discoverer of radium, and to express gratitude for the blessings of the hot springs. The Misasa Onsen, believed to have been discovered around 860 years ago in 1164 during the late Heian period, was recognized in 1916 as a hot spring with one of the highest radium content in the world, leading to the development of Misasa as a radium hot spring area and the birth of the Curie Festival.
