Special public viewing of the Atelier Mountain Villa
Wakita Museum is located midway between Karuizawa Station and Old Karuizawa. The Wakita Kaz Atelier Mountain Villa, adjacent to the museum, was built in 1970 by Junzo Yoshimura, a friend of Kaz Wakita, and is known as a notable example of Japanese modernist architecture. This Atelier Mountain Villa (designated as a tangible cultural property in February 2021) will be specially opened for viewing. Open to anyone. Viewing requires prior reservation. Applications will close as soon as capacity is reached. No entry for middle school students and below. Capacity is 8 to 10 people per session.
