Night-Blooming Tropical Water Lily Observation Meeting

Explanations by experts will be conducted
The staff of the garden and Associate Professor Sato Aki of the Graduate School of Science will explain the flowering mechanism of the night-blooming tropical water lily. Furthermore, they will observe the Paraguay giant water lily, which is a relative of the night-blooming tropical water lilies. They will observe the backside of the leaves, internal structure, and even the cross-section of the flower, and explain how the giant leaves float on the water surface and the pollination method that cleverly utilizes insects. Gather near the tropical water lily pool at 18:00 on the day (no prior application needed). During night opening hours, entry by car is not allowed for safety reasons.
