It is said that "Howaen," loved by Tokugawa Mitsukuni, is where hydrangeas come into full bloom. At Howaen, about 100 varieties and 6,000 plants of Western hydrangeas and gaku hydrangeas bloom beautifully, while at Mito Hachiman Shrine, around 60 varieties and 5,000 plants of mountain hydrangeas bloom vividly. Various events are also planned during the period, including the opening event on the first day and light-ups within the garden.
