37th Meiji Shrine Doll Appreciation Festival

Thank you for all the memories, dear dolls
The "Doll Appreciation Festival" is a ceremony to calm the souls of dolls that people are unable to dispose of, and to express gratitude by offering them. It is held every autumn at Meiji Shrine. This is the 37th event. Last year, approximately 7,700 visitors attended from various places in the metropolitan area, and about 45,000 dolls were offered. At the ceremony in the main hall, elegant miko (shrine maidens) perform kagura (divine music and dance) in traditional attire. The sight of dolls lined up in front of the main hall, nearly filling the entire corridor, is spectacular. The shrine's office also hosts the "Memorial Doll Exhibition" concurrently. ■Notes Concurrent "31st Memorial Doll Exhibition." Special venue within the Meiji Shrine office. Free admission.
