Washi. Tsugigami. The "ShiSai-ryu" of washi art, inherited from the Heian period, has produced unique works as decorative paintings. The distinct texture of washi, created by tearing and layering different colors and qualities of paper, results in works that change expression depending on the viewing angle, something that cannot be expressed in Japanese painting or oil painting. Let's appreciate these works that invite viewers to a calm and rich state of mind.
