Yuki Tsuzuri is a representative high-quality textile of Japan, originating in the Nara period, and its production process is designated as an Important Intangible Cultural Asset of the country. In this symposium, we invite Akira Kojima, president of the Yuki Tsuzuri Technology Preservation Association, and Mutsuko Nakano, chief researcher at the Ibaraki Prefectural Industrial Technology Innovation Center's Fiber Polymer Research Institute, to discuss the current status of Yuki Tsuzuri as an intangible cultural asset and the issues related to its preservation. Also, Yukinobu Ikuta, a cultural asset investigator from the Agency for Cultural Affairs, will report on the current situation regarding the preservation and transmission of intangible cultural heritage.
