The 44th Nonoichi Jonkara Festival

Livening up Nonoichi's summer
This is a festival representing Nonoichi City, where the locals form a large circle and enjoy dancing, forgetting the heat. A variety of programs unfold throughout the day, including taiko and wind ensemble performances on a special stage and participatory events, culminating in the festival reaching its peak with the Nonoichi Jonkara Dance at night. The Nonoichi Jonkara-bushi is a Bon dance that has been passed down in the region for many years and was designated as an important intangible cultural asset by the city in 1967.
