Katsura Beicho 100th Birthday Commemoration: Katsura Beicho School Performance
A variety of faces from the Beicho school appear at the Shimane Prefectural Cultural Center
Katsura Beicho, a national living treasure who devoted himself to the inheritance and revival of Kamigata Rakugo, which was on the verge of extinction after the war. This time, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Katsura Beicho's birth, we will hold a rakugo performance featuring members of the Beicho school who inherit that tradition, with guest Katsura Bunshi. This performance marks the 100th anniversary of Beicho's birth and the tenth anniversary of his passing, and in addition to rakugo, there will be a discussion panel with Beicho's direct disciples and a video retrospective of Beicho's rakugo. Performers: Katsura Beidanji, Katsura Shiodai, Katsura Suzume (Miyake Kyoko), and only for the panel discussion, Katsura Yakko. Guest from Unnan City: Katsura Bunshi. ■Note No entry for preschool children.
