'Kakinomoto no Hitomaro' is one of the representative poets of the 'Manyoshu'. He was active during the era of Emperors Jito and Tenmu and was revered in the Heian period as the 'Poet Saint', gaining veneration as one of the Thirty-Six Immortal Poets. This exhibition introduces paintings inspired by the poems read by Hitomaro, such as 'Manyo Nihonga', along with manuscripts and commentaries of the 'Manyoshu', tracing the influence Hitomaro has had on later generations.
