Aizen Matsuri

The "Aizen Festival" heralding summer in Osaka
The Aizen Matsuri is one of the three major summer festivals in Osaka, designated as an intangible folk cultural asset by the city of Osaka. It is also called a yukata festival because people wear yukata to the event. The 'Hōe Basket Parade,' held only on June 30, and the 'Great Purification Ritual,' which is said to have benefits for warding off evil, healing illnesses, winning, and business prosperity, are worth watching. The shout during the Hōe Basket Parade has been selected as part of the 'Soundscape of Osaka to be Preserved for the 21st Century.' There will also be food stalls at the night market.
