Mizutani Shrine Chinka Festival

A traditional event praying for the dispersal of epidemics
Mizutani Shrine is a subsidiary shrine of Kasuga Taisha, renowned for its miraculous powers since ancient times, where many pray for recovery from illness and the blessing of children. The Chinka Festival is held to quell the spread of epidemics that are common in the summer; prayers to suppress the epidemic are offered from 10:00 AM, followed by a kagura performance by the shrine maidens. In the afternoon, Noh performances by the Kasuga Taisha Negi Guild will be presented.
