Soma Nomaoi boasts a history of over a thousand years. During the first day's evening festival, events such as the departure ceremony, welcoming of the general, evening riding, and military gatherings take place. On the second day of the main festival, after a procession of over 500 horsemen, a magnificent horse race in armor is held, with mounted warriors dashing through like the wind. In the struggle for the divine flag, hundreds of mounted warriors compete fiercely to seize the sacred banner. On the third day, a Shinto ritual called 'Noma-Kake' is conducted, where a horse pleasing to the divine eyes is caught and offered, marking the closure of the three-day Soma Nomaoi Festival.
