"Horses running on the beach?!" Beach Horse Racing
A rare large event in Japan with a history of over half a century. It has continued since 1958 when horses were raced as part of a cherry blossom viewing event organized by the horse-drawn carriage association of the time. Set against the backdrop of the approximately 1500 meters of coastline at Terushima Beach, located at the northern end of one of Japan's three major sand dunes, Bukiuhama, it features humorous races with horses climbing sand dunes and diving into the sea, as well as elegant Thoroughbred races that captivate the audience. A local product exhibition is also held at the venue.
