Sansha Matsuri

The miracle of life spun by sound and light
The Sansha Goshinji shrine enshrined within the grounds of Choutoku-ji: Tenjin Shrine, Gion Shrine, and Kumano Shrine. Historically, it was celebrated as the Gion Gozu Tenno Festival, held every year during the Gion Matsuri. In recent years, the Tenjin Shrine located at the foot of Horiba Shrine decayed, and the statue of Sugawara no Michizane housed in it was relocated to Choutoku-ji. Currently, it is enshrined as the Sansha Goshinji shrine (Tenjin, Gion, Kumano), becoming a festival (Sansha Matsuri) that serves as an emotional support. ■Notes Terakoya Piano Class by Yuka Fujinami will be held on July 12, 2024 (Saturday) from 14:00.
