Ebi Jushichiya (えびじゅうしちや) 2025

500 years of tradition! A nostalgic festival of Japan
On August 17, the town of Ebi is enveloped in a nostalgic atmosphere. The Ebi Jushichiya is a traditional festival where the Hōki no Kuni Ebijō lord's Hachizuka clan opens the castle gates on the night of the 17th day of the Bon Festival, dancing all night in a friendly gathering with townspeople and farmers to pray for the spirits of their ancestors and for a bountiful harvest. Residents returning to their hometown for this day spend the Ebi Jushichiya reminiscing with their loved ones. Various events such as dancing, sumo, fire writing, and fireworks are lined up.
