Antaku Festival

An annual festival to honor the great deity of Antaku Sumiyoshi
To the east is the sacred peak of Hakusan, to the west is the rough sea of the Japan Sea, overlooking the historical battlefield of Genpei at the foot, in the scenic area of Kaga Province Antaku, the Antaku Sumiyoshi Shrine sits atop Nido Mountain, receiving much faith as the sacred deity of overcoming difficulties, affectionately called "Antaku no Sumiyoshi-san". The Antaku Festival is usually held from September 7 to September 9, but it will be conducted over the three days from Saturday to Monday, close to that period. Highlights include the large portable shrine praying for a good catch and safety, the lion dance, and the tugboat preserving the visage of the Kitamaebune laden with the Seven Gods of Luck, along with the circle dance performed in red kimono and traditional Japanese hairstyles.
