Japanese flower and bird paintings and landscape paintings were greatly influenced by Chinese art. However, as time went on, during the Momoyama and Edo periods, they developed into elegant and vividly colored paintings by major schools and painters, as well as delicate and serene ink paintings by Zen monks and literati, establishing a unique painting style that reflects the inherent sensibility and aesthetic consciousness of the Japanese people. This exhibition showcases excellent screen paintings featuring flowers, birds, and landscapes from the museum's collection. Let us touch the gaze (aesthetic consciousness) of our predecessors towards nature.
