Shimonoseki Bukan Festival

"Shimonoseki Bukan Festival" is a festival held for many years as a sign of the end of summer for Shimonoseki citizens. It features many events such as a Yosakoi competition, taiko drumming, and the highlight, Heike Odori and Heike Odori General Dance Tournament, attracting more than 400,000 visitors, making it one of the largest festivals in Yamaguchi Prefecture. At the climax of the Bukan Festival, the 'Heike Odori General Dance' fills the venue with about 4,000 dancers, allowing spectators to feel the power of the taiko's rhythm just by watching.
