Waka Festival

The grand festival of Kishu Toshogu Shrine boasting a tradition of about 400 years
The Waka Festival has been beloved and known as the Kishu National Festival, the Tenka Festival, and the Gongen Festival. The mikoshi boldly descends the 108 stone steps of the Kishu Toshogu Shrine, and afterwards, the procession featuring taiko drums, Saika dances, and naginata performances departs from the Kishu Toshogu Shrine and parades around the Wakayura area.
