53rd Akishima Citizens Whale Festival

I love Akishima! Connecting everyone with whales, it's everyone's summer
The Akishima Citizens Whale Festival, with over 50 years of history, derives its name from the discovery of a new species of whale fossil found in the Tama River riverbed in August 1961, and has now become a seasonal highlight of summer in Akishima. Not only does the venue feature various local shops, but there is also a parade with a whale-themed float, where various local organizations participate and march to liven up the festival. Additionally, the highlight of the first night of the whale festival is the spectacular fireworks that shine brightly in the night sky.
