The magnificent Gifu Castle viewed through the cherry blossoms.
Gifu Park and the Nagaragawa embankment area have about 400 cherry trees, including Somei Yoshino, Yamazakura, and Edohigan, spanning approximately 1 km. Every year in early April, the riverside and the area around the Gifu Park Japan-China Friendship Garden are filled with fully bloomed cherry blossoms, bustling with many visitors both day and night. The Ukai Cherry Blossom within the Gifu Gokoku Shrine grounds is an Edohigan cherry tree estimated to be about 100 years old, measuring approximately 2.5 meters in circumference and about 8 meters in height. It is an early-blooming cherry blossom that signals the arrival of spring earlier than other trees.
