Kemari Festival

Experience Japan's traditional game "Kemari"
An annual event held every spring as the Kemari Festival. The deity of the shrine, Fujiwara no Kamatari, established a bond with Prince Naka-no-ōe through the game of Kemari, which eventually led to discussions about the "Taika Reform" with Prince Naka-no-ōe at Tanzan (Kataraiyama). The spring Kemari Festival at the shrine is held in reference to this historical event. Experience Japan's traditional game on this occasion.
