Chikuri Hachimangu Nagoshi Festival

Chikuri Hachimangu Summer Purification
A religious event held every year on August 1st at Chikuri Hachimangu, commonly known as 'Wakuguri-san' or 'Kaya no Wakuguri', beloved by the people. The sacred grass ring (a large ring made from kaya grass) is said to purify the sins and impurities of the first half of the year, from New Year's to June. It is believed that passing through it allows one to escape from epidemics and disasters. In the afternoon, a kendo tournament will also be held, featuring local elementary and junior high school students.
