Kaya-in Lantern Festival

A lantern festival to send off the deceased during the Bon Festival. Lighting handmade lanterns (over 700) filled with thoughts of remembrance and prayers, and then lighting candles (about 3,000) for the victims, which started the year after the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. The grounds are enveloped in a fantastic atmosphere.
