The Ariake Sea, imagined as a vast tidal flat, has historically been a sea where boats exchanged back and forth on the water, allowing for broad interaction among people and goods. This exhibition will detail the history of exchanges surrounding the Ariake Sea, including the historical process that led to its being called the "Ariake Sea" as well as archaeological materials primarily from the Yayoi period to the Kofun period, and maps and documents from the medieval, early modern, and modern periods. ■Notes Hirobi Seminar: 3/15 (Sat)
