Guzu Burn Festival

Abolish the symbol of disaster, Guzu!
Guzu is a large papier-mâché Donko (a type of freshwater fish called Haze), measuring 7m to 8m long. In the evening of the 27th, around 50 to 60 young men and boys dressed in white tabi carry the Guzu, shouting 'Wasshoi' as they parade through the narrow post town. After an impressive dance performance of the three Guzu gathered in front of Dohashi Station, they are returned to the precincts of Funabashi Shrine and burned by the young men.
