Asobiza Noh Performance "Yamuba"

The mountain spirit, Yamuba, spins the world of souls
Program: Explanation of music; performer talk; Noh "Yamuba"; Satsuma Biwa "Shunkwan"; Mai "Nomori". Noh "Yamuba" retains the form of ancient nature worship, depicting the goddess "Yamuba" as a mountain spirit who continues to traverse the mountains while interacting with humans. The mountain traverse symbolizes the reincarnation of human souls. It is a grand work that symbolically expresses the concept of an individual existing in accordance with all phenomena. It is rich in Zen thought and has been attributed to Zen Master Ikkyu.
