Approaching Modern Japanese Art from War Paintings

Adachi Ward Umeda Community Learning Center

8/30(Sat) 18:30~20:00

A monthly lecture series that sets themes such as artists and works to learn about art/art history. The theme for the August lecture is "Japanese Art during the Pacific War Period." This art history course started last year. This year, which marks the 80th anniversary of the end of the war, we will learn about another "war" in art history over three sessions from July to September. Let's examine the relationship between "war" and art in modern Japanese art, focusing on the Japanese art under wartime, often referred to as the "blank period," and the history of artists.
