Sunomata Tenno Festival

The town is adorned with Tanabata decorations and lanterns
The Sunomata Tenno Festival has been affectionately called 'Otenwan-san' as a summer tradition for a long time. It is passed down at the Tsushima Shrine in Sukamata, which is a counterpart of the Owari Tsushima Shrine. The festival expresses gratitude for the blessings of the river while praying for safety from disasters caused by the river. It is said to have started around 1602 (the 7th year of Keicho) when the Mino Road was established. In the town, artistic creations called 'Tsukuri-mono (Dashi)', made from everyday items and agricultural products, are displayed at doorsteps to delight the eyes of visitors.
