Autumn Fujiwara Festival
An event to reminisce the splendor of the Fujiwara clan of Oshu
The Fujiwara Festival is held in Hiraizumi, Iwate Prefecture every May and November, celebrating the Fujiwara clan of Oshu. Various events, including a children's procession, are scheduled during the autumn Fujiwara Festival. At Chuson-ji, traditional dance and chant will be performed, while at Motsu-ji, the exquisite "Ennen no Mai," an important intangible folk cultural asset, will be showcased. Additionally, local performing arts such as deer dances and Kagura can also be enjoyed in the precincts of Chuson-ji and Motsu-ji.
