Mamada no Jagamaita (designated as an important intangible folk cultural asset of the nation)

Watch the powerful movement of the giant snake!
This event is held before the rice planting season to pray for abundant harvests and the expulsion of epidemics. On the day of the festival, the voices of children calling out, "The snake was unfurled, the snake was unfurled, on April 8, the snake was unfurled" can be heard throughout the town, and a 15-meter long dragon-headed snake made of bamboo, straw, wisteria vines, and ferns parades through the town. It has been designated as an important intangible folk cultural asset of the nation. It was originally held on the 8th day of the 4th month of the old calendar, but has since been moved to May 5th (Children's Day), as the participants are children who are on school break.
