Fudoki no Oka Gallery Railway Photo Exhibition 'Tokyo Metropolitan Color' Vehicles from the Northern Region

In the late 1970s, the then National Railway changed the paint of the standard type diesel trains used for regular service to vermilion. This was implemented as a trial from the metropolitan area, hence it is called the metropolitan color. For a period after JR's privatization, the color was changed to another shade, but it has been reverted back to vermilion around 2010. Let's appreciate the contrast between 40 years ago and the present.
