Resonant Paintings: Miyagi Prefectural Museum Collection - From Kandinsky to Yuichi Takahashi and Gutaï

Opened in 1981, the Miyagi Prefectural Art Museum holds approximately 7,000 works centered on modern and contemporary Japanese art, as well as the art of Miyagi and Tohoku, and overseas art focused on expressionism. This exhibition introduces 74 representative works by artists such as Yuichi Takahashi and Vassily Kandinsky, who are the origin of the collection, and Japanese Western-style painters from the Meiji to pre-war Showa period, along with artists who led post-war art such as the group "Gutai", and those who are part of the German expressionist lineage.

Closed on July 7 (Mon), 14 (Mon), 22 (Tue), August 4 (Mon), 18 (Mon). Evening opening days (open until 19:00) are July 26 (Sat) and August 23 (Sat). Last admission 30 minutes before closing. Only on July 4 (Tue) opening at 10:00.
