[Sakura Blooms] Jorengeji's Weeping Cherry

[Sakura Blooms] Jorengeji's Weeping Cherry

A magnificent weeping cherry with a graceful presence

Jorengeji

Early Apr~Late Apr

Approximately 130 years old, this cherry tree was planted during the Sino-Japanese War and is a weeping cherry (Edohigan type) with a trunk circumference of 175 cm and a height of 15 m. It is designated as a cultural property of the town. The thick branches spread horizontally, and the branches that sprout from them droop elegantly, giving the trunk a majestic appearance. The flowers bloom before the leaves unfurl, allowing for a truly stunning view. The pink flowers that seem to cascade from the large tree elicit sighs of admiration from visitors. Moreover, experiencing the tranquil atmosphere of spring in the serene grounds is exceptional. ■Notes For visits, please contact Jorengeji.
