Chinese Bon Festival

Bon Festival to Comfort the Spirits of the Deceased
Officially known as "Pudō Urabon Sho-e," this is a Bon Festival where memorial services are held simultaneously for both connected and unconnected spirits. It used to be held at the Chinese Settlement by three temples: Sōfukuji, Fukuzai-ji, and Kōfuku-ji, but now it is held at Sōfukuji for three days starting from the 26th day of the 7th month in the lunar calendar. Visitors from as far as the Kansai region join in, creating a lively atmosphere.
