Room Decoration Class 'Tanabata Room Decoration'

Tanabata Room Decoration
Various annual events passed down in Japan. The act of offering seasonal items and arranging the indoor space during transitional celebrations is called 'Shitsurai' (室礼). In this class, we welcome Naoko Yamamoto from Shitsurai Mitsu to hear about Shitsurai and actually experience the 'Tanabata' room decoration. After the experience session, those who wish can visit a nearby old folk house (designated tangible cultural property by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the former Kasuya residence) to view the Tanabata room decoration display. Capacity: 16 people (first come, first served). Middle school students and younger must be accompanied by a guardian.
