Awaga, located at the gateway to Ichijōdani, was a junction between the castle town and the outside world during the Warring States period. It had a river port, stores, and warehouses lined up, and it is said that foreign merchants also lived there. It is also referred to as a 'public realm' that did not belong to any specific power. Recent archaeological surveys have found structures believed to be related to port facilities and religious sites, and their concrete appearance is becoming clearer. This exhibition aims to delve into the history and reality of Awaga through various cultural properties.
