The venue is Mogami Park, a famous cherry blossom viewing spot where approximately 300 cherry trees bloom all at once in spring. The Kado Grilling Festival is a spring tradition where you can savor plenty of Shinjo's specialty, grilled Kado, which is at its peak. Kado refers to herring. Grilled Kado, slowly cooked over charcoal, is rich and satisfying. Kado is also called the spring herald fish, and it is said that in Shinjo City, they grill Kado that arrives with the thawing of snow to celebrate the arrival of spring.
