[Cherry Blossoms; Best Viewing] Beppu Ropeway

Tsurumidake (elevation 1,375m) is located east of Aso Kujū National Park, from which you can overlook not only Beppu but also Yufu-dake, the Kujū mountain range, as well as parts of the Chugoku region and Shikoku. In the Tsurumidake Nature Park 'Shikinosato,' located at an elevation of about 500m, around 2,000 cherry blossoms, including Somei Yoshino, bloom, followed by wild Yamazakura, which climbs from the foothills to near the summit over nearly a month from early April, progressing to the blooming of the rare Mamezakura around mid-April.

Note

The event date is an estimate based on the blooming period and may vary due to climate and other factors. The blooming period differs depending on the type of cherry blossom and elevation. At Shikinosato, Somei Yoshino, Shidarezakura, and Yokouzakura can be enjoyed from late March to early April, while Yamazakura and Mamezakura are enjoyable from mid-April.

To Takahara Station: About 5 minutes from Beppu IC on the Higashi Kyushu Expressway via Prefectural Road 11 towards Yufuin.

To Takahara Station: About 20 minutes by bus from JR Beppu Station West Exit, about 30 minutes from Yufuin Station Bus Center.
