58th Dogashima Fire Festival

The annual fireworks festival that announces the beginning of summer in Nishiizu
An annual fireworks festival that announces the beginning of summer in Nishiizu. Around 600 years ago, pirates frequently appeared in this area, causing suffering to the local people. However, one night, local youths shot fire arrows at the pirates who were asleep on their ship after getting drunk, setting the ship ablaze and driving them away. The Dogashima Fire Festival is based on this legend, featuring fireworks launched from within Dogashima Bay and an explosive display of a pirate ship set ablaze on the water, making for an incredibly powerful fireworks festival.
