[Cherry Blossom Viewing] Gojogawa

[Cherry Blossom Viewing] Gojogawa

Beautiful until the last petal, Iwakura's proud cherry blossom spot

Gojogawa Area in Iwakura City

Late Mar~Early Apr

Cherry blossoms in Iwakura City have been planted since around 1949, with approximately 1,300 cherry trees blooming along the Gojogawa, which flows for about 7.6 km through the city. The main variety of cherry blossoms is Somei Yoshino. It has also been selected as one of the 'Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots in Japan,' and during the peak viewing period, it attracts many visitors for hanami (flower viewing). The branches of cherry trees extend from both banks of the Gojogawa, creating a stunning arch of blossoms when viewed from the bridge. Additionally, at the end of the blooming period, you can see the 'hanaikada' (flower rafts) as the surface of the river is covered in cherry petals, making it a spot that is enjoyable until the very end.
