National Anthem and Patriotic Song

Readin’ Writin’ BOOK STORE

5/8(Thu) 19:00~21:00

National anthems born in modern Western Europe sing of the history and ideals of the nation. They express the integration of the people in ceremonial and educational settings and bear the attributes of permanence and inviolability as national symbols. National anthems were originally patriotic songs. In Asia and Africa, where official anthems were established mimicking Western modernization, national anthems arose from the urgent independence movements of Europe and America. Modernity is wavering, similar to the Global South confronting the Global West in the 21st century. What kind of symbolism do national anthems carry? I want to confirm the origins of national anthems.
