150th Anniversary Celebration of Tenno Town Float

150th Anniversary Celebration of the Float - Float Parade
This is a float created by carpenter Sugisaku Kuzo in the 8th year of the Meiji era, with sculptures by sculptor Ishikawa Nobumitsu and living dolls made by doll maker Nezumiya Gohei. You can admire the gorgeous float that has preserved its 150 years of history and tradition, accompanied by the Sawara Bayashi—a performance that is one of Japan's three major festival music, alongside Kanda bayashi and Gion bayashi, performed by the Sawara Bayashi Ashikiri Association. It is the only traditional float from the Itako Gion Festival that can be appreciated while it is paraded and danced around.
