Shinoda Fireworks

Fireworks Painting That Emerge
A rare example among traditional fireworks across the country, selected as a national intangible folk cultural asset. Produces a display of fireworks made by adhering a paste of a mixture of sulfur and food additives, and alum as a dye auxiliary, to a cedar board. The production process takes about 10 months, considering the drying of the boards, resulting in a size of 10m in height and 22m in width. Each year features a different theme of Japanese painting, drawn in a weak 'light blue-purple' flame of sulfur. ■Remarks 20 minutes on foot from JR Omihachiman Station
